"Women are horrible to each other"?!? This makes a song sexist? Men are horrible to each other also. Ever hear about the Civil War, World War I, Vietnam, etc. Does this make men sexist because they kill each other without questioning why? What a ridiculous concept!!!

An example of a "horrible sexist" "textbook" song would be one of the dozens of Billie Holiday songs in which her lover cheats on her and physically abuses her and yet she longs for her lover to come back to her. In "You Ain't Woman Enough", the protagonist's lover is "caught" looking at someone else. Quite the opposite of the "textbook" female-as-a-victim song, the protagonist fights for her relationship. The reason this song is so high tempo and upbeat is because this is a song about a *strong* woman who knows what she wants and fights for it so that she doesn't becomes a victim and can then only sing a pathetic ballad about her poor misfortune afterword. If this is "textbook" sexism, there is a PhD paper waiting because you've discovered a theory of misogyny that hasn't entered mainstream women's studies programs.

Women fighting over men who aren't worth fighting over is definitely a theme in "mainstream women's studies programs," I assure you.

I never took a womens studies course. Isn't that sexist? to not have it be a human studies course is discriminatory isnt it?

Hey guys (and gal), check out track 3 "Bouncey Jam" from this 1975 studio session and tell me if you still feel like arguing. I can't even not make myself dance when I hear it.

By the way, the song you've been arguing about is actually about cocaine as well.

say WHAT? You're trying to not argue by saying something that begs to be argued? I can assure you Cocaine was no where near on the radar anywhere of Loretta Lynn especially when that song was written

Haha, my bad I should have been more clear about my joke. I know some others knew what I was talking about.

The last time I can remember there being an argument here about a song's meaning, it was when I suggested Franklin's Tower could be about cocaine use, and all sorts of fun ensued. Anyway, I hope you checked out that Bouncey Jam!

Yeah, if you really wanna piss people off around here, suggest that a song (any song) is about cocaine. I give you credit, suggesting this for You Ain't Woman Enough is pretty funny.

Casey Jones has absolutely nothing to do with cocaine.

Actually he was doing more than looking. But i dont see how this fits into sexism on her part. Is this really what society is coming to?
